After discovering that Naveen wanted to identify as neither female nor male, Naveen’s parents held their child captive and took his passport. Naveen, Indian-born but grew up in the US and now at university, wanted to flee - but his parents had different plans. When Naveen decided to take his parents to court to defend himself, the case was unexpectedly passed and the Supreme Indian Court recognised transgender as a legitimate third sex.
Naveen uses neither the pronoun "she / her" nor "him / her", but the third person plural, "they / them".
