The film focuses on four women, who, despite being prisoner to rigidly-defined social roles, try to fulfill their wants and desires via small gestures of disobedience. The film takes place in the overfilled streets of a small Indian town and describes how these women gain a little bit of personal freedom every day through small, bold, secret acts of rebellion.
Aged between 18 and 55, each of these women has their own way of living. The college student who wears a Burka, who has to embrace a traditional, cultural identity everyday, but would secretly like to become a pop singer. There are the young beauticians who would like to escape from the small town’s oppressive narrow-mindedness, and the oppressed housewife and mother of three, who at the same time tries to lead a life as a businesswoman and a merchant, and finally the 55-year-old widow, who discovered her sexuality through a telephone romance.
Imprisoned in a conservative society with rigid, strictly-defined roles, these women try to find time for their personal space in their everyday lives.
