Leena Yadav was born in 1971 and first studied Economic Honors at the Lady Shri Ram College for Women in Delhi, and later Social Communications at Sophia College in Mumbai. Additionally, Yadav worked as an editor for adverts and TV series. With the TV show ‘This Week That Year’ she finally debuted as a director. Fictional as well as non-fictional programmes can be seen within her works as director.
In 2005 she broke through onto cinema screens with ‘Shabd’. She wrote, directed and edited the film, which bravely explores the psychology of love, marriage, creativity and freedom.
In 2010 she finished her second feature film ‘Teen Patti’ where she worked as director and writer.
Her third feature film ‘Parched’ (2015) as director, producer and scriptwriter with stars like Tannishtha Chatterjee and Radhika Apte explores gender politics in a misogynistic society and is set in rural India. The film was shown as opening film at the 13th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2016.
