Max Clouth was born in Frankfurt am Main and studied jazz guitar at the Mainz School of Music and at Hochschule für Musik Dresden, graduating with a diploma in 2009. Afterwards he studied Indian classical music at the Sangit Mahabharati music academy in Mumbai until 2012. In addition, he performed in many concerts in India and Europe, contributed to Bollywood soundtracks, and released his first album, ‘Guitar’ in 2011.
In 2015 he was nominated for the Jazz Award Burghausen and released his second album, ‘Return Flight’ through L+R/Bellaphon. He has been studying film music at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg since autumn 2015 and has composed the music for numerous films, often playing it himself.
The film ‘Freibadsinfonie’ directed by Sinje Köhler was nominated for a Student Academy Award in 2017.
In May 2017, Max Clouth received the prestigious scholarship ‘Frankfurter Jazzstipendium’, and in October 2017 he was nominated for the German Film Music Award.
